檀香木(Sandalwood）幾千年來一直是印度文化和遺產的一部分，是最早與其他國家交易的物品之一。
 
印度以檀香木的【心材】部位來生產芳香油，主要用於香水工業，以及它具有的藥用價值。
 
全世界公認最好的【檀香精油】是來自於印度東部的邁索爾省，所以印度檀香精油又被人稱為【邁索爾檀香】 精油。
