Majirajun

Machig Labdron (Tibetan: མ་ཅིག་ལབ་སྒྲོན་, Willey's transliteration: ma cig lab sgron, 1055-1149) was a famous female tantric master of Tibetan Buddhism and the founder of the female lineage of the Jowo school.

Maji Ladun was born in a wealthy family in Yela, Tibet. Her father's name was Quejidawa and her mother's name was Benjiang. At the age of 16, she and her sister Dongcuo Renqin studied under Geshe Zhaba. When she was 20, her sister died. In the same year, she received the "Four Initiations of Deep Samadhi" from Jiao Sonam Lama. After that, she studied under Shamarpa, Baitonba, Yatangba, etc. Later, in Zhatang (now Zhanang County, Shannan City), she met Padangba Sanggye, the founder of the Jueyu School. Padangba Sanggye praised her as "possessing the four great wisdoms, the incarnation of the Buddha Mother Dakini, opening the door to Samadhi, subduing all demons, and being able to win the mother. Laji Zhongmei respects her." At the age of 23, she followed Pandita Bazhaya, who came from India to Tibet, to study Buddhism. Later, she married him and had two sons and a daughter. At the age of 34, she left her family and visited Sonam Lama again, where she received the "Pam Accomplishment Five Deities Initiation" and was given the secret name "Dorje Wangxiuma" (meaning "Vajra Free Woman").

After that, he continued to practice Dharma with Padangpa Sanggyel. At the age of 37, he took Sangri Karma (located in Sangri County, Shannan City) as his main temple, recruited disciples and spread the Dharma, and founded the female lineage Jowo sect (མོ་གཅོད་, Mojo). He passed away in 1144 and was later worshipped by monks as the incarnation of the Wisdom Dakini.
