Yamāntaka (Sanskrit: Yamāntaka, Tibetan: རྡོ་རྗེ་འཇིགས་བྱེད), the main deity of the Anuttara Yoga Tantra, is also known as Yamantaka, Yamadi, and the Terror-Bearing Vajra. Because of its great power and virtue, it can subdue poisonous dragons, remove all obstacles, especially the Yama death demon. The Buddhist scriptures say that "the power to subdue evil is called great power; the power to support good is called great virtue", so it is called Yamāntaka. Mahakala is the wrathful form of the Supreme Manjushri, who manifested himself out of compassion for sentient beings in this degenerate world who face many obstacles, short lifespans, and poor wisdom when practicing the Dharma. Especially in this period of the Dharma Ending Age, the Supreme Manjushri will, as he promised in the past, protect those who sincerely wish to practice the Dharma and destroy all demonic obstacles. Therefore, the Gelugpa of Tibetan Buddhism takes Mahakala as the main practice.
