The sutra also states that chanting the name of Avalokitesvara can get rid of seven disasters, including fire, drowning, black wind, weapons, evil spirits, prison, and enemies; it can also help sentient beings stay away from the torment of the "three poisons" of lust, anger, and ignorance. The sutra concludes: "Therefore, all sentient beings should uphold the name of Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva."

 The Sutra of the Thousand-armed Thousand-eyed Great Compassionate Heart Dharani says: "The Buddha said: This bodhisattva is called Avalokitesvara... In the past countless kalpas, he had already become a Buddha, and was called the Tathagata of Right Dharma Light. With great compassion and vows, in order to inspire all bodhisattvas and to bring happiness and maturity to all sentient beings, he now becomes a bodhisattva. You, the great crowd, all bodhisattvas, mahasattvas, Brahmas, Sakyamuni, dragons and spirits, should all respect him and not be disrespectful. All people "The gods should always be worshipped. If you chant the name of the Buddha, you will gain immeasurable merits, eliminate immeasurable sins, and be reborn in the country of Amitabha Buddha after death." It is also said: "Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva said to the Buddha, I have the Great Compassion Mantra, and I want to recite it now. It is for the benefit of all living beings, so that they can obtain peace and happiness, longevity, wealth, eliminate all evil karma and serious sins, increase all good deeds and merits, and quickly satisfy all their wishes.
